California Public Records Act (CPRA) Requests
California Public Records Act (CPRA) Requests
The Yosemite Unified School District is committed to transparency and providing the public access to records created and maintained by the District in the course of normal business.
How to Submit a Request
To ensure a timely and accurate response, please submit your request in writing. While not required, providing a specific description of the records you are seeking helps us identify them more efficiently.
-
Email: [email protected]
-
Subject Line: Public Records Act Request
What to Expect: The Timeline
In accordance with Government Code 7920.000-7930.215, the District follows these legal guidelines for responding to requests:
-
Initial Determination (10 Days): The District will determine within 10 calendar days of receiving your request whether it seeks disclosable public records. We will notify you of this determination and provide an estimated date for when the records will be available.
-
Weekend/Holiday Rule: If a request is received after business hours, on a weekend, or on a holiday, the 10-day period begins on the next business day.
-
Extensions: In certain circumstances (such as the need to search for records in multiple locations or examine a voluminous amount of data), the District may extend the response time by an additional 14 days. You will be notified in writing if an extension is necessary.
Note: The 10-day and 14-day periods are for notification of the determination. The CPRA does not require that records be produced within this exact window, but the District will provide them promptly once the determination is made.
Guidelines for Requesters
To help us process your request as quickly as possible, please consider the following:
-
Be Specific: Provide dates, subjects, and titles if known. Broad or vague requests may take longer to process or require clarification.
-
Format: Most records are provided electronically via email at no cost. If you require physical copies, please be aware that a duplication fee may apply.
-
Exemptions: Please note that certain records (such as student records or private personnel files) are exempt from public disclosure under the law to protect individual privacy.
