August 2025 Meeting of the Board of Trustees YUSD August 2025 Board Meeting Show Transcript right behind you all ready begins to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it 1 nation under God indivisible with liberty and justice for all approval of agenda move to approve all in favor sure so thank you during closed session tonight the board approved our Specialists and this included for certificated staff we had 2 new hire and 1 resignation for classified staff we have 3 hires 1 transfer 1 Promotional resignations and miscellaneous class we have a hiring of 2 coaches so that was a motion by Bernie seconded Mark and a free logo went through my goals but there was no action taken on public comment Robert Guerrero Hi how are you doing it says appearance on my comment there so I'm here to pick on you or anybody else it's just my personal thought and I'm trying to maybe give a some help out so Parents try to ownership to address the board at this I'm sorry I'm going to ask you to address the board as a Podium please you're addressing the voice so anyways uh parents in private ownership you know you come onto campus this part of the campus looks okay back side of Campus where mostly like where the guests come in or other team sports you know truly looks bad um there's there's some clothes that have been out on that Park I haven't been picked up my thing is I'd like to see if we could get it volunteers and I've I've got people already that are saying yeah you know if you can get permission it will come in on a couple Saturdays and do some weed whack and limbing cleaning up over around the campus um so again I know I'm an insurance agent I know there's liability should have but also know that there's you can do volunteer work you know you can do like your booster clubs or whatever the case may be so you know I just my point of view is I'd like to see if we could get some things done to help clean up um my boy starts here next year so you're going to have 4 years of me I'm not quite so and I like to help the community I own my own business here in town so again if I can do stuff to help out and I can the people that helped I'm willing to do that it's just I don't know the loopholes to do that you know other than booking a fair and starting something out you know I just think it's important because I my kids didn't swim and we go to other high schools just swimming and a lot of the of course our newer facilities that you go on there and you look at it and you go wow you know I think when people come to the outside there's probably a house right so I'd like to help if I can we got willing people that are want to step up is is also my email is you guys all have my my phone number is there um they'll read a call you know it's just like the trans is a big thing I talked to Mr Beck and Randy 11 months ago 10 months ago you guys were sent me home for the way I was you know so at open heart surgery here I am thank you Robert I appreciate that I will we'll be calling all right I will answer moving on to reports Tony no Bernie will understand this may I approach today no you may not tackle you right now 1 that seems to you so I was wondering that I um so I just want to what I'm passing out of the many of the people yes here is a billable hour so uh a couple years ago the district gave out starfish and that was our theme uh so we are the why we are here is for the kids and I was lucky to visit back a little bit earlier today about the joys of the August for and I can say I'm happy to see the 5 of you can be administrative staff staff the sites at the district we are moving in the right direction so we have a new heart we have a new drive we have a new passion uh today at the ymi high school meeting we were talking about the PLC and I Jessica called on me because I wanted my teachers to hear from the marketing unit that we're getting some help not because we it's the dashboard as some flaws we just say we're doing all the great things we just need to get that the credit for that it's like someone that puts in a 40-hour week it never turns into their time okay our time sheet is our attendance our grade books and to have things that connect so we get the credit and we are on a really really good place and on a really good slide I am so happy with with the way we have turn turn this after you're we're heading to the no problem so thank you each and every 1 of you thank you to everyone here thank you to the parents that take the time out of their day to be here so thank you very much I was last time did I have sent you yes are you guys tonight um it is we are in no real fast know right now um with everyone back on campus uh spent a lot of time this summer you guys have gotten some reports um usually weekly from us and what's going on um we are just preparing for a new school year have had to make a few adjustments to to certain teaching schedules just due to some Grant laying and getting authorization from community colleges um but um I'm really excited from what I'm seeing for um having a new activities director ASB uh July Garcia has taken over and there's been like a new turnover there so it's been really well seeing what the kids are preparing that is new and not just the same old same old um and it's going to be really good and Athletics I feel it's going to be a great uh year for us I cannot wait for football to start uh you have other characteristic under Wade um she is an on it she's been meeting with my coaches and getting us online and I need to have she might have just hired 1 right now but I think I have about all of my coaching staff that I need to as of right now close close um as you know I'm still in the hunt for a secretary so we're still doing that so I'm also my own secretary and I really am bad at it um so it's not going a little there but it's a we are getting prepared and this is going to be a great year for you to be high school I hope so um and all the different changes uh that you'll see on campus I'll some of the bulletin boards done next week I just didn't want to do this you don't want to get damaged um and so we will see all those different changes um and I will talk more about the course catalog when that's our next turn because that's how I spent most of my what do you mean by authorization from community colleges this is a credentials is there any Rich to go that's coming up oh that'll happen more towards the end of the year but yes we will have those line on I've been hearing that word toss dra at work yeah those are the ones I love that like the students that are registering for the community colleges about 60% of our students end up going there uh so towards the the end when they start registering um like early spring for the fall that's when we have them out here okay um there will be some changes within the counseling department took the massive changes we have you know we have 3 counselors now before including Penny um that's at core school um and we have 3 here at the school state where we have 1 so there's lots of different changes um they are actually taking over what used to be the next step Fair there we were revamping that for more High School bound high school students uh moving into either the workforce or the college and having that event a lot sooner so we're making a lot of changes and all the presentations that we do inside of the classrooms for the Freshman for years uh they're making some changes on that like they're seeing what was effective and we don't want to take over a lot of the time in classrooms that teachers need time to teach uh we're trying to hold some different events to get the information out there but there's also going to be a lot more 1-on-1 meetings with individuals and their counselor uh so we might alleviate some of that so there's a lot of changes going on there that will affect a lot of what and then in the past well if you have any struggles with the authorization piece with the dual enrollment let me know how I can help okay thank you okay thank you Jessica um so we got some really exciting things going on at core we ended on a really high note at the end of last year um 1 of our really cool things that we have now is our Google cougar Zen den and I want to introduce to you Penny Pennington so penny is coming to us from Florida um as our school counselor um she we we kind of uh Miss Sharon and I kind of threw all the stuff in that room and she's kind of taking it on and it's going to be really instrumental in using that as a area where she can hold groups um calm down area for kids um culinary for staff um you know just the space where we can come um where the kids can show up with staff and just kind of have an area where they can refocus themselves if we're heading back to the classroom so we're really really excited about that we held for staff meeting in there this morning and the teachers are pretty impressed with it yeah it was really cool um today um staff both my staff and Jason staff and nwea training which is going to be taking the place of fastbridge so it's going assessment that's available for K 8th grade and it's going to be kind of like a we'll do them 3 times a year like we do a fast Bridge um Beth Kirkley who I know Mr um Beth can introduce is our new Sky director but she held this fed meeting today um on our campus as well with all of our spend teachers which is going to be really big um and I think it's a great addition to um what we're already doing we did a lot moving forward last year with our sped department but we've got a lot of room for growth so I think she's going to be a great addition as well um we also met with our guiding Coalition team today with mix sauce um that was um intense I don't know what else to say emit you know it's really looking at what we're doing well and where we need to go and we've got a lot of growth that we need to make uh bring on new to new teachers mark Bennett is going to be our 7 8th grade science teacher and math teacher and he is already hitting the ground running and we have Cassie Long Core who is taking on a brand new role on our campus which is a t prec tkk special education class right got 5 kids um in there and so it's it was a need that we needed to fill so we're excited for that uh TK class is getting closer to about 20 so we're going to keep monitoring that because once we get that 21 124 first kid we're going to get into some issues um as I left today I asked them enroll in our enrollment right now ready to go uh 275 which we've gotten 59 students still working on enrollment so we're looking at over potentially kind of kids which is pretty pretty good for for us um we've got a lot of new bodies and new families moving in and our kids coming actually coming back that had left so that was kind of exciting to see um Brooks Solomon our new District nurse is working with our new health aide so we've got a lot of how many people on campus to clear up immunization issues so we've got a lot of kids that are being enrolled and we we've got a huge turnover in our health a department and we didn't have a whole lot of guidance with our last District nurse so that's really huge plus Brooke is only a coarse gold uh graduate she was my students and she's a yhs rep so it's kind of cool and her mother-in-law is Kelly Solomon out in out of here so full circle is kind of cool uh we've got some incentives set up for attendance this year we saw our attendance um increase quite a bit last year but um 1 of the big ones that we're going to do is a monthly um perfect attendance event and we're going to start with homemade ice cream out of our brand new ice cream machine that PTO purchased so that'll be exciting um we welcome you to come on campus we've got not only the Cougars end in but with the sorry I'm talking a lot you are I'm sorry that the grant that we got from Diane xine is amazing so you need to stop by and see that and then our homak um slash parent so it's a family a student and family community resource center all-in-1 is almost finished we're going to have a new carpeting put in there that's what we're going to be holding on elac meetings um really try to push out that as resource for staff and kids and families okay nice oh so sorry capacity at the site for the enrollment uh we're I don't have any more classrooms correct capacity had about 315 years um well if we get all those kids will be a little bit over so we'll be over 300 so our um right now TK is almost at 20 I think Kinder's over 20 we've got a first grade that's at 20 I think a 1 mentioned that's around 20 are straight seconds around 20253 I think is that around 2528 fourth is 30-ish we have 2 fifth grade sitting at about 2025 a piece sixth grade I think last was it 25 7th grade I think we're about 25 again in eighth grade we're right around 20 so we've got room for growth within all of those classrooms themselves that exception of really TK but moving on I'm sorry we got plenty of time I was given jdi because you know all your class sizes I'm thinking do you know that oh I got it on my board and actually updates it every day um so like in our in the classrooms themselves we've got space But like I don't have like if I had to hire another person I have no place to put that so if you if you have an exiting class at the lower population and you continue with these higher population entering grades part of those overflows so we're gonna have to create because we I was there we had 2 of every grade level almost so it's it actually might be in the facility master plan thank you thank you thank you I will say the most disciplined today was a great day 1 of the most disappointing things I walked into the office and that software machine was not set up right in the Box feel free to stop by after the breakfast on Monday we'll be having it set up in the cafeteria for Seth so don't you worry good to see my favorite school board and this is a while um so we're just coming off an administrative Retreat that we had on Monday um was refreshing it was it was just for me it was it was really good it was uh it was another sense of purpose as we had that the directions of 1 of the things are attendant Mr Beck who facilitated that so that was leaders that was that was really good on Monday so I appreciate that um we have new 2 new positions a river go we have a campus supervisor and that's been filled our accountant so we're excited about that and then uh position um attendance and behavior Advocate um and so we're really excited about that I'll just give us another opposition will give us an additional resource um uh intervention piece that just both the behaviors and attendance and so again decided uh to get those going that's not filled but that will be filled soon find that in-house currently uh I'm excited that we have filled our first grade tcv Merchants as of 2 days ago um it's Denise more so she comes to us from January unified so she decides in that patient so very excited for that um like maybe you said our PLC Gotti Coalition uh members met with this morning and got another little uh little uh Brutus but um that's okay ready to go yeah ready to go tell us what we need here not what we want here right that's what gets us better as leaders and so on that team is myself Matt Wilkinson uh Lily Maguire Brandon Matthews Christian so that's our Coalition team there um our attendance program has been greatly upgraded from last year so there's a lot of stuff that we're doing to address attendance I want to thank bat putting that together um there's just too much to list there and so it's just a lot of stuff that um we're going to be tracking within as wise and um and send the base and prizes um p28 so we're really excited um today was my first stop meeting certificate staff meeting with myself so I was excited and getting everybody in the same room and so we we talked about that attendance program with them and um put that out so they were able to see that so really excited uh another another tool in our tool belt going to address the attendance um ckk classes currently at 21 days so that's a great thing right so we're at 21 so and growing um so that's good we have our Kinder meet green on Tuesday the 12th at 4 oclock and so um our kids will be coming in and doing the meet and greet so they can be escorted to the to the capture where they're going to be principal they're going to get a gift and um nice little photo out there with all their families and then send it on social media so we're gonna do a little little thing with him decide the Serie um every first Wednesday of the month beginning September 3rd so we'll look a little bit forward is um I'll be hosting a patient with the principal in the Cure 8:30 so way to connect with the community members and have them come out and have a donut or 2 and spend more time with me talking about whatever need to talk about um you see Ricky T with the positivity project or something it's for this upcoming School here the feedback we received from the staff was they really wanted to bring that back it was very successful so we were doing that again this year um and then a little show and tell portion of our presentation up here I got I want I want to thank uh I want to thank Randy and I want to thank uh our our board for and our excuse me our our district partners for allowing us to go forward so what we he's got new carpet in our Middle School classrooms um yeah right there to modernize this so beautiful carpets so nice you can eat off of it not right now you could but not about a week yeah first day and then the building no that's and the trim there so we got a nice nice modernized color 2025 Jeff and our our Chase he did that work and he worked all summer so yeah I checked in and I'm going to do he did an amazing job so just a beautiful vacation we're looking forward to your first year I'm excited all right Brian sure thank you Brooke Allen so uh we heard her mention but we have any Pennington in the audience right there so um just she represents she's going to be great symbols from Florida but she's really back right she's actually from here so she's going to be a great addition as you know that was a structural change where we switched from having a vice principal of course go to the counselor part of our really moving towards more student supports and more counseling services District wide um Jessica we've done that 3 counselors in our high school levels and we have pain not the the elementary school level and we'll continue to expand as much as much as we can as fast as we can but these are the supports that our kids need so I just want to welcome you to our district thank you for being a part of this expansion next to her um I want to be sure in a minute but um another another structural change we've made here because we knew it was a need was to have a a real focus on special education and some of the improvements that I have needed to be made here for a long long time and we're a little late to the game but we have a real rock star and Superstar who's joining our history this is been she's she has hit the ground running with some due process complaints and some things she's trying to keep trying to clean up but um just comes with a ton of experience um has been here before with the UK for a while and and now is back and so we're just really pushing to have that I on the interviewer that has a board you could put a face with the name and you know who we have focused on special education so thank you guys for being here you're welcome to stay for the whole board meeting you're also welcome to leave um also I want to give credit where credit is due Jay mentioned I did do some facilitating at the leadership retrieve but the planning was done by a planning committee which was Jessica Mindy Christina and Jamie was on the list if so uh she she be the first to say they did a great job a great job but I will say it was it was a great time together as as but it was really due to their planning their hard work they're putting in the time to make this something really good for all of our leaders there was about 20 of us 20 of us that were there um just really kind of setting our goals and getting a line for the year and it's you know I was just sharing with the board earlier pdsa cycles and plc's and all that sort of thing but this is the kind of shared leadership right when other folks can step up and put things together and and leave um in a way that's even even maybe be on their role just because they want us to be better that's a really good example so um let's see special time of year right I mean this is my 33rd first day of school as an educator and I don't know it's 1 of the best days of the year Wednesday is going to be my 33rd first day of school as an educator and it just for me like it represents um hopes dreams and New Beginnings for our kids like when you see them show up and they're filing and there's laughter and they're ready to go like it's it's emotional it's touching because um I think it it reminds us as adults and staff who work in schools they're like we have a lot of power over how things go and this kid's life living a life on our campus we can't forget about that and to me that's what the first day of school represents it's another opportunity for us as a school staff to help kids reach their hopes and dreams that they have as individuals and that their families have further I've seen it happen firsthand you change a trajectory of 1 kid you change the trajectory of that family forever it impacts thousands and thousands of kids over the course of time so I get a little less about first days of schools but it's my 33rd and it's exciting as it was the first 1 when I was 27 years old that was a while back um so it's 3 3 years ago so um I wanted to say also that you know we are embarking on a PLC process and improvement process but I've shared with the board already I just want to share a publicly that we know we had a great year in 201 425 a great year and the dashboard results will come out in a couple months and it's going to be step 1 on an improvement Journey that's going to I think it's it's going to be really really good because we know now if we get focused on something really hone in on something and look at the data and make data-driven decisions we can do tremendous things and now we have a way of doing that in a formalized way we're going to continue to see growth um I see our teachers return to class these first days before school starts are really important for our for our staff you know we've been um we've been setting directions and preparing classrooms and campuses Randy and his and and his team um have done a really good job of getting us ready for school our teachers will be learning about professional learning communities trauma-informed practices will be something that they'll do um tomorrow as well they'll do their annual mandated trainings they they did a training today on benchmark assessments and textbook adoption so these few days before school starts for our staff like there's just a lot of learning and getting ready for for school to start but it's also an an exciting time um and lastly I just want to kind of and I'll share some of this with our staff as a whole on on Monday but we hired a lot of employees um over the course of this summer and I don't know I mean every single 1 of them like they're they're great addition to our staff like really really good and I'm really excited about who we've been able to bring into our district a lot of that is due to just the great work of gaming but also you know our principles and our managers and they're all they're all involved in this and just hiring the right people and getting people in the right spot but I do want to say that we've made some we'll have some pretty significant or positive changes um in 5 key areas 1 is safe learning environments so you know tonight we have the camera project um here we have um I've shared with the brass with this on the board we've entered into an agreement with the Sheriff's Office and Behavioral Health to restore a school Deputy officer um for the next 3 year commitment maybe a million dollars to be able to do that and and and some other things don't even know this yet but if that's happening we'll have active net by the end of the year on all 3 of our campuses which is an emergency response system with Cal Fire and the Sheriff's Office have been forbid if anything ever did happen on our campuses we're ready and we have a School River schools come in on board and we'll have the high school ready to go by the end of this year um so we'll have all 3 campuses um ready to go there and then um we also now have campus supervisors on every single 1 of our campuses which we didn't have before so there's been some pretty significant safety moves um which has been some feedback that's come our way over the last few years and we've been able to do a lot sooner to address those particular needs also increasing support for students you heard about increasing counselors we now have a student attendance and behavior Advocate at every campus um we'll have we'll have it at the high school River Gold Course gold and adopts so we now have 4 um advocates in our district and Behavioral Health supports I talked about the third area is a line learning tools we've um we now have parsec which is a new data analyst the system so now we're going to have data more readily available we have these benchmark assessments which I talked about and we're continuing our curriculum adoption work under the um under the leadership of Jared Morty there so appreciate that work the fourth area is addressing facilities and operations we'll hear tonight about the facility master plan uh with our with our friends here um the Energy Efficiency and solar project is up and fully running now so that's that's fully functional and then of course our buses they're all on the road now and and and then um lastly just our cult a of improvement and I've talked about just you know having plan do study act cycles of improvement professional learning communities our partnership with the county office and with the California collaborative for educational Excellence like we're going to really be on a path of improving our student outcomes and so I'm gonna talk about those 5 things um a little bit uh next week actually I just kind of wanted to say them here in more of a public forum so I think it's important to know that we continue to improve and continue to make changes we continue to make it additions that are addressing some of the needs we um here in this district and so I want to thank you guys as a board and have been in space and a couple months which is a little bit weird but I want to thank you guys for just remaining steady and and supporting all all of these things I know sometimes you feel like well we're just kind of here and people seems things are coming but um you know you really do give direction you said high expectations and when things come you ask questions and you make sure that we're doing the right thing and you could be doing you could be having us focus on something else that not really that all that important so we're staying focused and for um staying steady and then just want to thank the many staff members who work tirelessly to make all these things happen right I mean we create conditions but the actual work is done by many many staff members who are getting it done on a daily basis for kids and I appreciate all of you um for doing that I'm super excited about the school year starting if you couldn't tell but um with that I'll turn it back over to you my longest speech ever right there Brian thank you very much Andy yes sir um well first um it's great to be back um Beth welcome thank you I'm looking forward to this day and welcome thank you joining the district thank you sir for your comments I'm looking forward to the day when I can volunteer we can figure out a way to without liabilities and whatever symbol try to get something going um great reports J you have pastry with the principle if you ever have lasagna with the leader 1 other thing I I think as a new board member my initial start here was a little rocky in not knowing what questions to ask I asked a few questions that were fairly pointed and I really I guess Bernie said I he reassured me he said I kind of went down a similar path I looked pretty closely the details and after a while he said I acquired a confidence in in the way that this ship is being run and I asked these questions and I want to compliment you you said it in a second ago you the board members that you know we're here to ask questions and I felt like my questions were I don't know if these are appropriate to ask or if I'm asking a question that's outside of my Lane but you were always welcome to my questions my questions tended to be on a fiscal side so Mark to Charlotte and as I've learned uh about your strengths I I sense immediately that you were extremely strong CBO to begin with got a lot of years working with fiscal data myself working with a lot of cbos and I saw it in you quality um and I just want to say when I asked these questions and you and Brian and Bernie all set time aside to to come down here and meet together and discuss in what was originally an hour-long meeting that turned into 3 and the what you had done to prepare for that meeting and and my confidence I guess some more like what Bernie said I feel like I'm in a place where I don't have to worry about the the details I'm I can step back I I just want to thank you for being open not being taking offense at the questions and for Patiently bringing me along it was very nice of you so and thank you Brian too for for making your time and and never making me feel like the questions I was asking were out of line thank you I'm standing thank you just glad you're here you're welcome knowledge that we definitely need to do our job for me yeah that was well said Andy um I will say that the questions that I asked when I was first on the board on the level of sophistication of your questions it was more like what is This Acronym and that kind of thing you're on a very high level with your knowledge so we're all learning from you I am for sure um Robert thanks for coming good to see you glad you're open heart surgery went well if you don't if you haven't had open heart surgery uh which probably most of you have not I hope probably not you're you're not you're in the zipper Club because you get a nice big scarr right now with your chest welcome to the zipper Club because I had 2 of them 1 on top of the um the the second scar is half the size of the first so if you ever have to do it again they're getting better every year and that it's shrinking um so the excitement around here is just really cool to see and I can feel it as we we were just walking use the restroom before we came in and I could just hear the voices and sense the August 5 um hopefully we can maintain that throughout the components of a rainy night in January we'll have that same excitement but um I feel it too it was it's nice to always it's nice to have a break having those 2 meetings in June is tough at the end of June but then you get this July off and think everybody needs that for those of you that didn't get that time off and that worked all summer thank you very much for for being here and making things go where the the trades person at River goal who was working all summer to make it look better I think that's really really glad that that happened um some of us we don't see the campus very often so we notice those changes if you haven't been there in 5 months and then you sit for a graduation you notice when something's been painted or fixed up so I think that's great that that um I don't think I have too much else to just very excited what's going forward I went to a football team potluck my son's going to play is playing this year and there was a great vibe there too with all the parents and the the coaches and everybody's very excited the mistake and it's just a brief over here so looking forward to everything and and Robert just 1 thing I didn't want to forget to say to your point there's a lot I want to say about that but I won't we're doing something tonight on the agenda called the facilities master plan and if you log on if you haven't already read okay you got it yeah so yeah we're we know we know and now we know in great detail we are trying despite appearances for trying to make things happen thank you for your offer and I hope that happen Brooke can fix anything and so I said to him every year graduation message can we sneak in the middle of the night and fix those bleachers and just replace that middle with all the steps that I can't stand to walk up 1 and he so if it happens I'm not saying it was us but uh you fix it and we'll make it happen but there's a lot of reasons you know there's a lot of reasons why that's hard to hard to do it that way thank you for your comments thank you Bernie well I have to also the vibe is completely since this is my first time first day of school the vibe now is so much a couple months ago I like this so I'm so excited I feel like I spent the second half of last year just trying to figure out what in the heck you now I'm supposed to do and what what it what what is the role of a school board trustee and you know the in knowing all the bits and pieces and the parts and of everything not that I you know it all now but um I'm so excited to start a full here um in this district and I hope and welcome Beth and Penny and thank you Robert for your for your uh words because I think when parents come and they're involved it makes a big difference and I'm excited to come to the um cougar Zen den and check it out that sounds like a place that would be good for us sometimes but maybe we can have like your day at the booger zenan a retreat per se so I'm just so excited about this first full year and um really I'm going to be focusing on um just a lot of interaction with the community and interaction with the different sites plan on next uh year or this year I'm going to start visiting a lot more and I want to see everything from you know what's happening with a kids to what's happening behind the scenes um I'm I'm excited about being on all the different campuses sounds like there's so many things in the works everybody's so excited about what's going on and um I just have a feeling about this year I don't know um this is not what I've heard typical School District environments are I think we have something really unique and really special and I'm excited to be a part of it and uh I see big things happen happening this year so um I'm anxious to see that and uh Brian I just want to say that um you know I've worked with a lot of people in different areas throughout throughout my life and you bring something and you bring something to the the table that is it's uh you foresee where you want to go and you take us in a direct that is more than just attending to problems and attending to things when they come up it's like conscious evolution it's like bringing us to the next level and I know everybody works together as a team and um you know everyone from the administration to the teachers to you know everybody but I see you leaving us in that direction and your excitement that you just shared with everything and I just wanted to acknowledge you for that and um I just see the great things happening this school year so thank you thank you very much Jennifer love it Mark um just want to say um reiterating what everyone said comes to all of our new people and all of that um yeah with the with the facility get getting cleaned up I've noticed things as well and I'm glad we're getting the master plan and going to have a good idea um I remember at 1 time I'm like what all this Rush done by the soccer field down there where like people are trying to sit on the sudden I didn't want all this growth behind this and go up and talk at the those that need to be talked to and just like okay see way over there that's where the red tape ends on that and so it's just um it's it's interesting but it just goes to show that everything is done in these schools there's a lot of work to go into that and so um and don't don't say that you're going to come and see we're going to be seeing a lot more of you you made it sound like that was a that we were going to take that as a bad thing but we we welcome it with open arms we love to come to see it even when it's stuff that's hard to hear um we want our community to come and talk to us the not afraid to come up and stand here what's going on um thank you everyone for their hard work and just being ready to start this zero I feel like the last 3 years that I've been on the board there was just been a lot of laying of foundation so just a lot of good like I can see the rewards of this for a while but this is what we're building and so it was um it was Brian's approach to take things in a certain way and to build things in a certain way not to try to do too much too quick to make sure that we're building this Foundation in the right place where they need to be submitted us to go where we need to go and so thank you both of you but um when I got here on the board I was for everything so it's um it's great to see The Happening so yeah um excited to keep the year off and something else we decided and it's just a lot of change in people but again just feels really a really good place thanks Mark Robert I'll be out there with you totally 100% um looks do matter uh last year I got Kent Lincoln some new uniform shirts for his shop and then so now this year uh we're gonna have to get all the all the Roop kids uniform shoots for their auto shops because they wanted it and and that is the whole the whole thing that we have continued to be going the direction we've been going in is Improvement uh this is as board president I'm going to stand here in my little proud dad moment um Beth and and uh Penny welcome you know I've grown up here I I graduated here almost 30 years ago 29 years ago um I I've always been a proud Badger um before I got onto the board was elected board member I was not a very proud badger school was in a very sad shape um all of the board members or board meetings I went to um while I was running I was not looking forward to being a board member at all I did not want to be sitting here while Tony's up there shaking his finger at me now he gets hurt right I know that is the exact point is the that it is such a U-turn oh my gosh we we always have Superstars here right we are we care and love so much in the mountains that's what makes us different you know uh now that we have some good leaders um amazing staff amazing Administration this is so awesome what is happening you can see by the excitement you know um every board meeting I went to before and I've been up there been 1 of the person's up there shaking my finger you know and uh never have the board meetings been just amazing um surely there's always challenges that we must address our half now takes them head-on Administration just tackles them yeah you look at it Square in the eye and you find a fix and you and you lead in a way that everybody is all for it it is so special welcome you guys so much Year and I hope you guys have an amazing time here and and continue to from what it sounds like you're another Superstar you know we're really looking forward we have for a long time had issues with with um our said and and um we want all of our children to to be cared for properly and and each 1 you know Blossom however they can you know so uh Carl dad moment thank you guys so much is just phenomenal I cannot be more proud of what's going on here at our school um we need to you know this is where a healthy Community starts right here we grow our children up and then it spreads like wildfire into the rest Community you know we want we want all of our Mountain communities to have this kind of feeling too of proudness of doing good and working hard so thank you all so much for coming and uh did you want to yeah if you don't mind or my report I had asked Beth to come up with say a little something now that all the pressure has been put on her as a savior special education I agree my report I forgot to do that so Beth would you mind just saying a couple words this is my 22nd year in education so that's really fun I did support to it and I thank you all for uh bringing on someone special in here um it's always an ongoing journey and uh I I love being back on the campuses I I was a side administrator before too and I've done special ed director before too so but when I come on campus I was like yes it's so great to see the kids and to be in the classroom um walk alongside of them so we're really working on um educating the staff and putting in procedures and processes that are in place so that our students that are general education students first that have special needs and need special ed services are getting what they need and um making no progress and that it's a mutual education um and as the things and special income that n in unique ways whether they come from the state or from other places uh those are walks that I'll come alongside of people um and support and um just be really honest with and transparent with what the next processes so so I look forward to um seeing you all out in community and I was born and raised uh down at Hill and I've grown up backpacking all my life I have here and around and get out as much as I can so um it's really nice to be back I was in the casino County for 14 years prior so I know the small communities I know rural um I know being an hour and a half away from anywhere and it's crucial to have teamwork and support with everybody so I'm really glad to be back yeah um we have board what is it I said I'll do the best I can with that we have our board policies and we have the ARs or administrative regulations but words on a page don't Define how to take an entire segment of our instructional program and make improvements you spoke a minute ago about new procedures how do you get from the words on the page aren't gonna do it what do you do to change an entire population of instructional leadership and and faculty and and engage the student what was that it's a great question um today I am a staff meeting so I had 2 separate ones I did uh tk8 and then 912 just because very different populations with what you're serving and I'm taking them along the process of talking educational benefits so if a student if a team comes along and they spend all the time identifying that a student uh has a disability and needs specialized services and we're creating these plans for them this is important and this is this is their life in school and how are we creating what is there so that is Meaningful and what does that look like um as well as having to talk about the compliance pieces and the state pieces this is our all required but really just developing um an understanding with them uh and I also will be working with administrators too so that they have a deeper understanding of the IEP process um things are always changing too in law in case law so um giving them real realistic examples uh and tying it back to this is why they got into education students so how can I support them to be able to do their job as well so um another piece of culture if if culture is sees something 1 way it's learning why they see something 1 way and then trying to um grow and and move forward so yeah absolutely thank you all right we're moving on to the consent agenda before approval we have to abstain from voting on this 1 because of our school district our buses are White Fleet the little ones have to have some new inspections or whatever um Brandy put out forbid um and I gave him what number is what I thought was reason the hole and it happens to be uh the lowest bidder and the first shop that can actually get to it on time so um there is no impropriety about this so I'm going to update determine anyways um I'll just add to that so 1 of the items on the consent agenda is the um a warrant great yeah I don't Item B ratify accounts payable where I'm so because um a business that's owned by has some tape warrants in there for work that needed for our district to avoid any conflict of interest or perception the conflict of interest you won't be loading on this I move to approve the consent agenda second and you got the second and all in favor moving on to item 6 discussion items first reading and consideration of revised board policies yeah so we've been trying to get at least some batches in front of the board every month to keep our board policies up to date so again I know you have 10 or 12 board policies here to keep you busy over the next month to read through and then I'm over some back next month for um no actually you're just a discussion item in terms of putting this out in in the public and for the board for you thank you Brian number 7 action item 7 a second reading and approval of the board governance handbook Mr Tony meissner good evening uh so 78 is the the board handbook and uh 1 of the things I hear every word of that beautiful document um however 1 of the things I hear frequently from the from the teaching staff and I hear also from the classified staff and talked with these it is um and we you addressed it which is our staff and our students and our parents love to see more members on campus and I just want to emphasize the importance of I know all of you have a full-time job I appreciate your dedication to our students uh showing up to football games basketball games uh pants uh pastry with the principles Fair those things are so so important and the instructional day as well please come on campus follow the the procedure none of us like surprises is as many years as I've been here there have been times that the minute the door opens and someone walks in I'm terrified not because I'm doing anything wrong but it's the relationships that when you only see people when you perceive you're in trouble it has the the but if it's someone that comes in like Steve Robb who just walked the campus all the time so Steve walking in the room but hey kids didn't freak out staff didn't freak out so please please please the board handbook we have to have board members to those great events the during the day during the day at night Etc that's all I got you guys are doing amazing job I just don't want to lose that connection with our kids because the kids are wider here if anyone has had over 21 birthdays they're not the most important those little faces away thank you thank you for the reminder Tony so um I think to so this board governance handbook came in front of the board for a first in June prior to that we spent a year and a half almost 2 years just kind of really going through this and looking at Best Practices and some other districts and really what this board handbook does is it kind of outlines the protocol called procedures policies that we're going to commit to as a governance team right I'm part of the year of the board I'm part of the governance team as a as a superintendent so it's just defines kind of how we're going to operate what we're going to do what we're committed to 1 of the things I'm probably proud of um that in here and this first and foremost is that it says the board's here to do whatever our kids need that's basically what it says right and then it says and here's how we're going to do it so um this also includes the idea of moving of moving toward a board self-evaluation which we have not had we feel it's very important that if we're going to um if we're all willing to hold ourselves accountable accountable that the board models that as a board and so that'll be a component of the board handbook that will be implementing or working on this year as well so just really proud of that work from our board for um you know being willing to do that and hold themselves accountable and so obviously I recommend approval of the board and or adopted the board handbook so we can implement it outstanding yes yes thank you guys thanks for working on this and it's been a big project you know but this is what we need so updated and everything uh do we get a a motion to approve second second favor all right action item 7B approval of the item in high school uh approval of the yusd High School academic courses for um okay so in front of you this doesn't normally happen but we wanted to show you just because that horses have come before you these are the horses there might be 1 that is but horses are in the offer within school year um for the high schools within years of a new um it was a big undertaking because a lot of this information was not in this talk prior to this year it went from a 44 piece truck in it to a 99 page it was probably going to have so it is a working document I I am sure there are errors and there when it comes to some another course I'm I'm I'll be fully transparent with that we are so cleaning up some of those um but we will we will make those changes as it goes the codes really aren't as important as the um what is in the description um what you will see from the difference from and you may never have looked at the course description book you might have Bernie with a a son here I didn't get to page 999 oh I gave it a shot uh I remember before is there we've moved from a lot of courses getting to um what is the 8 and G which is the college prep um pretty much approved so um a lot of our electives like pure calm is the leadership culinary Auto uh tag classes a Mech we if they can get approved we got them approved um even financial literacy we got to be approved as a math course and not as left his math course uh so we do a lot of work so that our students have a lot of opportunity and we help for dapp with the um College and Career indicator um on this really the only classes are some remediation classes um the special education classes that's the account towards the um I added in our um what you have seen before and approved um I think in the June meeting it's all blurred out um the uh alternative pathway uh diploma for our students with special needs um and that is also reflected in here and and so we want to be clear and transparent with their parents for what we offer um in the future what you will probably see from me but I don't think it'll be a for meetings I just need to keep demon on the list of courses and we actually approved but we may not offer the current year and we do switch some courses we do 1 1 year and 1 another year uh some we have on you know on uh on the docket just in case we need it but if we and also includes all the courses that we teach uh for Evergreen and a wani that uh we use online curriculum with cyber high and Agility um finds what it takes for a student to go to college either cutie college or 4 year um or just to graduate requirements um clearly lays out and and a little bit further than it has before you maybe in directly related to the for example good did you guys make changes on the Aries portal um because I went in and I saw I hadn't seen before so clearly my son's progress towards graduation by category has that been there and I just we are we are well areas does its own updates at times but we have been making um we're still making more changes like with this 8 digit that we did work we're making to where our standard isn't just the bare minimum that's never been our um but it kind of got to that where I was like just get these are are actual what we're shooting for is college prep and graduating into a requirement so uh you are going to start seeing that on there so we are working with Aries so that the transcript that are agency so that really that's your that's your target and not not your target down lower it's just like already what I saw just this morning actually it was I had seen before and it was very helpful to see where you are still needed which subcategories of that I just maybe I overlooked that and it's still going to keep but over the years I've been on there and I'm like there was only a short window when you could see your kids transcript that was weird it was like that was good then it was gone and I was like okay I think I remember what I saw on there but now I gotta wait another year until I get to see it again and so I just think it's that's improving too it's just going to be helpful for parents to click on there and say oh you need this many credits of English math history Etc I have noticed it list of the what was happening we had a lot of courses we had like 1700 courses inside of your study time um when you think about how many classes we offer like that's just so we're going to be including that up and making sure that coded correctly so we still have some things to be found like oh this is a coded over on the portal so that that will help our career our College and Career indicators and we're trying to make its appearance have that access you will get more as we bring on the ccg die that where we are linking with them this month and so we'll start sharing so you'll see more of your son's information since he is a senior and you'll be applying for colleges so you'll be able to track all of his applications and his um fast perform everything through 1 portal you still have to apply to the colleges in different places but you'll be able to track it and they pull from our information system before that so all that tracking of like having to send things in in the register having to send and we going to kind of go away it's going to be more of a streamline process but within that process we have to clean all of this up and that was really what it came down to I felt to be transparent so you guys see like what are we actually offering and improving course wise when it comes to what power educating students and I felt even though we had a lot of online uh curriculum available we we needed to state that in our I think the other piece I mean number 1 I would say is tremendous amount of work Jessica is being pretty humble but she's she's brought together this course catalog that looks nice and neat and all organized but it was sloppy messy work along the way that you had to bring the teams together with people at least the counselors all those certain all those people the ccgi by the way is the California College guidance initiative and and it's okay but all sorts of Bernie's question like there were some updates in areas that we're now taking advantage of so that parents can see where kids in in terms of graduation and what Jessica was referring to also is that where you quickly moving that also to where parents will see where kids stand with relation to a through G meeting a through G requirements so um and that becoming the the default right like the best we're we're putting kids on a path to complete um CTE Pathway to complete a to G requirements and that's the default if you want to change out of that there's going to be a process but it's not going to be the other way around where you pick whatever you want and then we'll try to figure out if you're the right person or not so Jessica and her team I mean it's it's just a great leadership moment where Brooke said we see a problem and we take it on that's that's a normal where it was like we got to fix this because we had to make sure that our kids are getting what they need and families know what's happening so it's a great first step and more I stop can I get a motion approved all in favor approval Chris for allowance of attendance due to emergency conditions an emergency um times where we have to close school there is a request that we can put in that allows us to be able to have those attendance days so it's called the j13 a um so if you remember in March we have 3 days that we had to have emergency closures we had 2 of those days or built into our calendar so that kind of that was that was neutral but then we had 1 day so instead of making that up we're putting in for a request to allow us that day to where we don't lose funding for that attendance day that's kind of like the overview of so we're just asking for approval Christina put all of this in all this information together we have to get supporting documents and put all of that and then we will send that into CV I want to approve all in favor all right 70 adoption of the yusd facility master plan hey so so what we've been waiting for tonight so just a little history um in December of 2024 um we the board approved a contract with Dixon smart Schoolhouse now School leaders for facility master plan that goes back to in May of 2024 we went out for an RFP so this is a pretty long process in order to get here um so the District staff has collaborated extensively with school leaders and they're here tonight to kind of do an overview of the facility master plan that we're bringing you um and then just to remind everyone that this is intended to be a dynamic and fluid document so we don't want to have this put it on a shelf this will be something that we'll be revisiting like probably annually or around that because hopefully we're doing some work and we can take things off the list and also asking syllabus as our needs change so I'm going to go ahead and turn it over to this is Jay Dixon and can test up um we're going to go over this for us you guys should be thank you it's um and thanks for trusting us with this process I've enjoyed it driving out here and calling the work trip has been amazing the previous picture I've taken a in the valley by the stream and have some great apps too on the next day after working thank you so um like Charlie mentioned we'll go a high level through this um and what can we do as well okay okay so uh first and foremost I'll just give an overview of why facility master plan for school districts um first and foremost it's um it it's that strategic blueprint so you like the first 1 on the left for all of your facility projects going forward and again like try to mention it's fluid and and um we like to see districts revisit this at least annually as um teaching Spanish exchange facilities change things happen um 1 of the big 1 of the big drivers across the state and over that third bullet point is this required by opsc which is the Office of Public School Construction if you ever intend to access non-local funds um the the opsc requires this document be adopted by the board and then finally it obviously provides every student Innovative and safe learning environments are superintendent Brian Beck earlier about safety environment and thank you if you have been a great team working with Randy Charlotte so our process um I try to mention we've been engaged with quite some time we've had many walks with staff during the facility needs assessment um we had there's a number of the gentleman who's not here Dr Alamos Arena who led our educational specifications and worked with certain folks there um so it's been a highly engaged process that we've been been engaged on there's there's 5 requirements of a facility master plan to meet that opsc requirement and all 5 are in this document I took it over to uh can to talk through the key findings and needs from a facility assessment standpoint I'm calling facility needs assistance um thanks Jay and uh thank you um all of you somebody identified School District uh president Alan and board members superintendent back is uh it's this is real exciting for me because I'm I'm an overtime guy that is only in interested in what kids do and how they Thrive and I I just use that as my excuse you know I've I've always looked at it Through The Eyes of I try to be a kid and uh and and I think it's great that you're it bugs me in my batch to all of you too but you know I bring kids right my wife and I and and I love coming up the facility and and I'm gonna I've been told to go fast right that it's hard not share a little bit about me because I think that's what I tried to pour into my part was only 1 part of your master plan that you're evaluating for potential approval um but you have a wonderful School District from my front of you and just the fact that the board is taking time and energy and you put money towards paying attention to facilities the built environment I think a lot of districts that don't do it it's too late then and you you represent a board this board and other boards have done some amazing things here I got a long little list of a long list of Kudos about what Randy and Charlotte and their they know their stuff I think I really think so um they're they put the district in position to get dollars right for your solar and Energy Efficiency I mean you know I know the baker school the baker swim complex is a big piece of the community but it's got big needs too but where kids are at in the classrooms is is is and their benefit is largely dependent upon just paying attention to a master plan and is Charlotte said it never it it's done it's it's it's as old as it would be you know when you approve it kind of thing so it is a living document so giving giving attention to it is a big deal um the the most important thing I feel like the needs assessment came up with is is superintendent Beck mentioned is the needs for kids to have a world-class facility um in every capacity and you you've done that right there's a lot of pieces the district um where your kitchens your nutrition services infrastructure is like stating the art and in many cases you know you have the freezers aren't quite as big as some of your stuff would like to see um but that's a part of paying attention to it and uh I can't commend your staff enough for just being willing to engage with me because I when I went to the baseball field with Mr with coach glesby or when I walked the site with with uh principal Fairbanks and I talked to your mrr Lincoln for example and all I can go on and on Nathan droan you know a lot of the staff and your your classified folks that custodian uh Arnold Greg all these folks that you know much better than I they really are paying attention to a school that has major needs and it wouldn't matter which school I'm talking about the roots here as to 70 High some of the restroom availability at at all the sites uh the portable condition that bless uh Jeff or what he transformed those Portables but those are some very old Portables down at at River bowl and um the science room that would be an example of of of an inadequate space that you're paying attention to um and and what Jay mentioned about your um opsc looks over it you know office Public School construction we know those people up there they're real people and they are taking a look at what districts do and don't have Master plans and really the needs assessment is the core and the heartbeat of your master plan um so I know I'm jumping around a bit here but what kids need is a world class uh education and school leaders and Joe and Jay um Joe Dixon addiction formulated this company that is offering districts a chance to really peel back the onion so without getting too much into the the needs the key findings Safety and Security of your sites is always something you're chasing having it better and the camera project the surveillance systems that are coming on as a part of that you guys aren't waiting to later on those pieces um fancy uh some of the visibility in your classrooms there's there are some limitations to being able to see out it's not just a physical benefit for for teachers and and all of us we like to be able to see out right I mean in this room right now I'm trying to see outside just to to those are some of the elements in the master plan that get down into the details um but I I want to thank uh your your staff for letting me come in and and look into every building and every going every roof at all sites Raymond included and of course your your bus uh facilities your your your maintenance and operations facilities are probably another big need that you know a lot of times we don't want to talk about that or the adult but those are key parts of the instructional team and so thank you again for taking a look at it but trying to get into the details here uh single point fence access and visibility is a key part Portables at some limit that um there there's aging infrastructure at at all your schools right we all know that you know your Portables are 30 40 years old um the roofs um are are some of them are in circle with me but you've already started to replace them and again ry's way ahead of what I think uh many districts haven't paid attention to the LED lighting there's not a light in the district that is an LED right and you paid mentioned to that already when you're working on getting a water filtration system down in Porsche scroll which is a critical piece and again you know about your Energy Efficiency and the and the busy V program but um the restrooms for example I know you've seen it but they're they're they're not at the level that uh would be Equitable uh uh at at River Gold for sure um some of those restrooms are difficult to clean they put they put a stress not only on your staff but of course the kids are walking into facilities that have a a big need and frankly the only way a lot of these uh needs are going to be met is if you position yourselves with a master plan backed with that specs with a funding plan that's a part of of this this um evolutionary master plan um but your program your CTE attention um the the attention on special Ed we've got a counselor now replacing J congratulations Jake I'll be in a principal right because it is about supporting kids but you have to have spaces for a counselor appropriate spaces um that that are conducive to the supports that they're that they'll bring and and I was a uh not a good but I was a special ed director for a few years and wow what an amazing job that that was the hardest job I ever had because we're meeting all those kids needs and they look our spaces that are very unique now um it's not just like oh we have a portable there um and even signage on on Bill the injured is a critical piece sometimes um again I'm getting into the Weeds on you very much so I lost probably a lot of your attention in a way but I just want you to know it was great to be able to go in and see your Portables every single 1 of them and all your sites and all the Portables that are down in river gold and many of them that are being used for for storage we all in districts did that um a de hoarding principle was 1 of our projects that we finally got to when we built 30 million Operational Support Center with um you know warehouse and and supporting all of the the nuts and the bolts but but again uh 21st century goes any more or almost over we you're looking at 22 maybe even Beyond 23rd Century schools uh benefits by putting kids in facilities that allow them to create the jobs of the future um and work together with interaction uh so your site utilization yeah there's there's there's there's availability in riverville how your Ed specs trans translate that into needing facilities is what the master plan helps you get a big bar on and with a lot of uh levers so uh I'm happy to answer your questions because maybe you didn't want to hear a lot of what I just mentioned but your master plan is something I think Jay and I and the team that we work with are proud of presenting to you but it really has come from you because you're the experts your teachers I mean they they know their stuff I saw a language arts teachers because I was a learning director I spent half my career doing the the real work you know being in the classroom and watching teachers do their magic um but you have some Far Advanced uh you know Mr Lincoln and your ad mechanics and your your egg program those are teachers that are using what they have um but again all this requires so much money and this is just the beginning so I'll uh I'll try to wrap it up at least my little slide here and yeah go forward yeah um so thank you so you know in summary Not Unusual across districts we do these facility needs assessments across districts Statewide uh specifically with your facility values are aged there hasn't been a ton of modernization and there's a lot of infrastructure because I would call it an infrastructure which is not unusual just based on the age and that's um and I like to say the only permanent classroom on the campus is I'll go to the next slide here happy to answer more question on that again Ken walked every single site for quite some time the way we prioritize these and again all projects go through the division of State architect and opsc many projects do um if if we focus on infrastructure code health safety failing RS HBC we need my code is the code uh since last time a certain campus was touched or should an area of a compass have to travel codes have changed Ada has changed um DSA I think is on every 3 years they do a code update so thanks have changed since the last time they were touched and those are things you have to look at as well with there's a lot of elevations here um generally again this is funding aside money aside this is a plan we would put out a recommend them to the board so the focus on first second and third um for the fun stuff talks through okay so um I believe in the the bottom line of the master plan we found how many million in needs approximately 74 million dollars on the short end on the and that was that was January's number yeah and we're in a currently and you never know what happens on this but we're in a escalating environment with the the building environment specifically industry there's you know a lot going on there um so funding strategy uh we put together we put together basic estimates on um on any non-local funds so there's a proposition proposition to you in November um through certain Pathways there's some funding left in it but since I think the status since 1984 the state of California has never not asked another Bond and funded the school facility program and so it's been a constant there so uh the way we look at it um 74 million in needs uh we estimate on the low end I believe it's in the document you know 9 to 10 million dollars in state funds that are available um and I guess we'll we'll start at the top so 1 of the first things you look at again this is just an estimate we put together to go through that process with the state you got to have to submit anything so PSC um the idea of a you know potentially future local infrastructure Bond and then some districts have done that or or um you know we find other needs as well there's um a lot of this cool things like that um developer fees and targeted grants layer to cover the full program scope uh so when we pull uh there are some um County records and the county has a 10-year plan so there are some County records of potential building I don't know if that come to fruition but the numbers are in that document as well um and then last but not least um and moving forward you have a DSA online documents using the state architects so what do we do so uh we're talking Drive the knees we talk about the funding and then uh you know other piece in there which Dr Munoz not here to talk about Ed specs and the Ed specs we work with your staff that's how do we design towards the future where is our pedagogy or work what's our Theory and teaching what are the best environments and how do how do we direct an architect to build a new environment for us or we do our own and so the educational inspection specs are in their next step uh again just the cycle the adopt a plan you begin design and that's again this is just from a needs perspective a living document there's other components in there um and that's it again um yeah any questions we'd be more than more than happy to answer we'd really enjoyed this process and thanks for giving us the time I have a question yeah I thank you first of all it was I read every word of it I've been waiting for this for a long time so I was very anxious to read it and you guys did a great job I mean I learned a lot about our facilities things that I I kind of had a general sense of what was needed but it was great to see it done in such detail so thank you for that I I just curiosity of hypothetically if this board move forward with pursuing a bond in the future would you would you offer the service of being able to say okay we identified in January of 2574 Million worth of um community may not our community is probably not capable of supporting a 74 million dollar Bond but uh the last 1 even close to that the 1 to build anel Adams and mostly you know part of the pool and other things so um if we had a number if we came and said we have a number of what we are going to pursue or what we're after with this Bond you offer the service of saying okay here's the best use of funds based on what we know you do some of that's implied in your in your report you've identified the most critical needs you might you get them codes 1 2 and 3 and priority but I was thinking districtwide if we had to could we come back to you and say this is what the most we think we can get our community to pass house what do you recommend we do basically sure um well well first and foremost um I'm not the expert in moo bong passage or Finance of it and there are folks that do but number 1 it's based on the value so you're not going to have 74 I wouldn't think 74 million in bonding capacity May um we don't again I'm not I'm not the expert but again this is an unusual across the state um and then it's going through that exercise in the meantime what you what I mean there's always the option to finalize what are we eligible for at the state level we just gave you an estimate yeah there's a process 9 or 10 million put in there that that's that's based on um so the state program works enrollment your current needs and funding abilities that's really kind of based on enrollment so those are the numbers we came up with but um again you'd have to we'd have to fill out a form and send it into opsc and get confirmed up so that's how you recognize the outside first do you I think we're do you assist with that yeah I mean do you and I Randy does amazing things with Charlotte they may be able to answer all the questions I ever do the things I'm talking about themselves with Brian but I was just wondering if that's a service because I was sitting there thinking okay if we did move forward to the bond how do we take this and squeeze that into of the scope of what we're capable of funding here and I like I said I if you give really clear Direction on what the priorities are but if if somebody said to you okay assuming this much money what is the best course of action sure yeah more more than happy to uh work with you guys through that process over with the district on that we have um experts much more experience and smarter than I am that done this for 40 50 years for their career at the state level and all that so the hard the hard questions that you're asking how will we come up with that kind of money if we're I believe again you you're starting to have that conversation and it's uh you know taking a bite out of the elephant a little bit at a time and looking at what the community is potentially going to support and make it on what they need for their kids and that's the you're involved in that you're having those oh wow I mean I was I worked for a district where we have a 330 million dollar needs but we can only um we only had like a 50 million dollar there's a bigger District you know $50 million bonding capacity so the community though behind it and a billion dollar Bond got that passed a couple years later but um having the discussion and uh you know marketing the the district like you are and what uh superintendent Beck is speaking of uh it being on The Cutting Edge is those kind of conversations and it's like the will of the community becomes like we're going to do this this is what we deserve um so I don't know if that answers the question well it does I'm to you know thank you I'm I'm it was I'm still trying to form the thought in my mind too about how this works and how we go about this and that was just a thought I had is how do we take this data and and turn it into something that is concrete and real and say hypothetically if if we're going after a bond how do we say the community this is what we want we're hoping the community passes and here's our plan for what we're going to do with it and so I'm just looking at how get to that next step where we're able to include something together and say look we here's what's realistic and and here's what we think should be done with that I know that's primarily a decision for all of us in this room and but I was just wondering if we needed your guidance if you could take some of that data that you provided and say this is what we think you can do with that absolutely I think we're going to be having a study session about a bond and so with that we'll be able to look at some of what is that bonding capacity will be able to look at what they've done there's some things that if we were going to do this project it might not be a DSA or need to go through opsc and so that might be something you can't get extra funding or matching funds for but we're going we'd be looking at projects and being able to identify this is a modernization this is new construction and looking at those grants if you will through the state facility program what could we pair together you might have something that's matching funds so it's a 10 million dollar project but maybe we only need to use million dollars of our bond capacity and then we've got money over here so it's almost like a little bit of a puzzle piece or the numbers are always going to change but I think that next step is looking at what is our bond capacity because we know we don't really have any extra money to throw up things now so now we have to look at what can we do to get some of that to get some of these these items done I don't know if that helps absolutely yeah so just trying to get a feel for we'll do some studying and some learning around bonds right and walk to make some decisions as as a board what Bernie's getting at is that let's say you know we say we're going to do 30 million let's say it's 30 million he's asking can we get some guidance maybe to you or maybe you can get us in touch with the right people to say okay for 30 million here's how we should prioritize that and so and so we can Circle back on that once we do our learning around the Bots I think your answer was yes you can help with that or at least get us in touch with some folks who can write correct okay like a program thank you very much I am um embarrassed to say I didn't get through the whole you mentioned a little while ago on the 99 page you made a run at it I made a run at it I got through to your detailed enrollment projections I wanted to compliment you on the work you put into that I don't think I've ever seen waited cohort progression you know survival method expelled out in a report it said to me that you put the work in you got a good sense for our enrollment uh trajectory let's call it earlier tonight Brian that mentioned that are as of late our enrollment has been fluctuating some how does the plan address our needs for flexibility in what we think of as that this time anyway somewhat fluctuating enrollment patterns yeah that's a great question I would just or put that side by side with Your Capacity Analysis per site and I'd understand where is your capacity I believe there are 2 sites here that there is capacity and again for all the teachers I was a high school English teacher way back in the day and I know if a classroom was open next door my stuff was going in there wasn't a learning stage you know should be but again I would take that I put it side by side with Your Capacity Analysis okay and that'll that'll give you a firm idea or a guess for the future on can we take more students here do we need to increase capacity and to to Charlotte's point then you get into those funding options uh at the state level they have new construction versus modernization funds in the different qualification metrics for that again that's utilizing non-local yeah would use those 2 together if that answers a question yeah and I think what we found out in here is that I want to make a statement but I believe that we found is that we're probably not going to qualify for new construction kind of funding right just based on moment and basically the best we have we would we would more qualify for some modernization funding to upgrade the facilities that we have yeah they look at the age of the Portables and they basically they become invisible and Compass the good news is if you have a portable that is beyond its capacity um the state sees that you don't have room to house your kids so all of the sudden uh horse Gould Elementary for example becomes um you know really well bad shape right because the Portables disappear the oldest ones the ones that Jeff painted definitely don't exist at riverville um so we're doing everything we can to try to help the district leverages much eligibility is the state facility program is not just dying to give us money right Charlotte they make us wait painfully but if we if we can a bond passed as a community passes the bonds then you can leverage more money from the state as fast as you can and for every 4 dollars we spend we get 6 back but the problem is we have to spend all 10 of Our Own in most cases and then we wait we play the waiting game but as the district starts receiving that money then they can apply it to other projects and that softens the load on the other end of your of your mortgage so to I'm not sure if I'm using too much slang language but um if you get to Andy's question I think what what this master plan showed is that our enrollment projections are not showing that we would need right it's showing that we to modernize our facilities that enrollment is not going to outpace our capacity I have 2 more both of which are going to reflect my somewhat lack of the full in-depth knowledge of the plan I didn't get through all of this so I I want to know I've been waiting for 5 years Andy so step ahead of me you can connect you know the bond and all that stuff but I I want to know if you had any 2 let's say priorities facilities Improvement priorities that are so crucial that they fall outside of wait for Bond money or wait for some new money is there something available to the top that really needs immediate attention from a safety standpoint the the the roofing conditions at some of the sites even though Randy and his team have done a heck of a job of patching the dike soon to speak there's there's serious Roofing uh deficiencies and um there's repairs to gutters for example we all have gutters on our well we all have gutters in our homes but uh those are presenting some real challenges for example at River Gold to other parts of the building envelope so it's that fancy word we use building envelope the roof and the siding you got to protect what's underneath it um and then air conditioning at some of the sites is um you know we heard about MV efficiency ratings of fresh air uh there's been a lot of air conditioning improvements over there on the district but still there's a lot of attention to just enjoy are quality is is very expensive and then another biggie that no 1 probably would it's hard to explain this but when Mike people call him Sparky right the electrical equipment the the electrical equipment at this site the main gear the core um Pacific electric gear is is way Antiquated it's 1976 gear that's even while I was going to high school and it just needs to be replaced after some of the high it's not a danger but if you can't go that much longer you know what I mean before you may have serious electrical failures you could have you know some some safe issues happen but it's not a danger but it's just so old it needs it needs replacement not improvements not it's not like what we see when we drive in but it is a core element that I think is is something the district would pay attention to we want to pay attention to and 1 last 1 for you um I always take care of my kindred soul over here I'm a tech guy way back and I want to ask you did you take technology leads into consideration in your plan and and our goals for expanding Career Technical education those kinds of things are they considered in in how this plan came together to protect and CTE um trustee Prestige I I personally when I looked at it I didn't look at it through the lens of the Ed specs as much as I would have maybe like to but I looked at your wiring your physical wiring to the the data cabinets and there's a Nathan knows this we we met 1 day we had a great session and talked about just how important our our data is to us right so those laptops go down right now if we lose our WAP signal in here it's like that commercial for uh whatever it's a silly commercial on TV that people panic when they get a flat tire right uh but back to your question um backup energy or backup power exactly for example example we talked about that and uh uh that's a that's a core need I think that's a a dollar amount we took a stab at in here about those things yeah we we did in what kids using the classroom is critical you know delivery of of of audio visual and it's all it's all about social media so uh but I think your your district is in tune with that and your teachers are using it in the classroom but probably won't be uh because something will come along brand new hologram type yeah discussion could I make a quick comment we had a good meeting um we went over a lot of the tech stuff thing that was talked about was next year's Category 2 for e-rate so we're looking at a lot of network upgrades for next year anyways um part of that is going to be some Fiber connections that we need to repair and those things so that that ongoing we're not pushed away the Wayside if you're worried about that thank you yeah we're we're focused on it thank you for thinking about that very good thank you guys First Step we're uh we're really looking thank you guys for coming out and all of your time you're welcome thank you thank you just for my perspective as you know bringing this forward with the help of these folks as Administration sending to the board that we adopt this plan for any of the reasons that you just heard if it's in a better position moving forward so obviously the living document but start getting in line to do some things that we need to do to consider and then using this password so our recommendation we get a motion to approve second second all in favor yeah that's awesome all right David and ratification of contracts in districtwide camera project this is the first time I've actually got nothing to so this is also we're all looking at you so this is my first large project taking on the district and a lot of effort trying not to study for Charlotte Randy pretty excited this is gonna be good for kids it's gonna be good for the community to be good for facilities so that being said for camera installation projects hopefully Phase 1 so just it's a little overview it's just Phase 1 for the problem for the camera project it's it's kind of the start to look at the most crucial areas of where we need coverage and get into the system get everything set up with the idea of a phase 2 that after principles have seen the setup and they can give a little bit of voice I walk the site with every principle before we even started this um getting a major ideas of crucial areas bathrooms entrances all those things but the main goal is to say to our kids so 1 of the things with the Piccata system that I'm extremely excited about is it's got AI leveraging so we can facial recognition people that are concerned about and license plates are concerned about um it's it's going to improve our instant response so when we have an incident um I know another Madera County District that has the product they had an incident happened on a Saturday night and within 15 minutes there was a report to the superintendent and what was going on and it was ongoing and it was updating so we'll have those capabilities um part of this is to ensure the privacy of everybody involved so if we had a uh incident happen we can blur every face we want to blur to make sure that nothing gets to the public that is not supposed why forata um between long long conversations with our other communities in Madera so vast Lake and the Dark County Superintendent of Schools we kind of did a big evaluation of a bunch of different products and this 1 kept sticking to the top of every everybody's comments so I sat down and hour-long presentation by every company this 1 stood out they had so many things that every other company didn't and they were looking at so many features that it's surprising that being a lot of it um there are staple in technology for hybrid system so they're not just an on-prem system that you got to pay for DVRs they're hybrid so the cameras have storage themselves and then they upload to the cloud my concern was like oh man our data bandwidth um but after doing a demo I know that our data is going to be our families going to be fine because we can upload at night and there's zero difference between viewing on the camera or viewing at night when it's uploaded the cloud um 1 of the big things about ricotta is they had an incident back in 2021 where they they got compromised and there was this huge attraction report where security was a big concern um they did a lot to make sure that they they met standards and had an after action report of all things that they were doing to change some of those they couldn't go public with because security reasons but the confidence is back with the company so that's why I'm hoping to move forward with them multifactor authentication for security so I know our accounts that we're connected to them are going to be severe nobody's going to get into our system that's not supposed to unless it's a user error and or intentional by user error we're going to make sure that doesn't happen just interview so you might recognize the Solly photo of our high school campus and all of our surrounding adult education at Ops campuses so this is this is the proposed location for Phase 1 um nothing is set in stone until a they always drilled in the wall but between conversations with principals um the companies that came out and did evaluations I walked the sites probably 4 times each this is what we came up with for Phase 1 and I think it's a good start so a little bit of an idea of purple or high definition where you could you could see almost in when you zoom in red is our standards camera it's not just where the red zone is that's just overarching art as further you get out the less of it plus clear visibility get yellow is indoor cameras and or fisheye cameras um inside of Ansel the the big Corridor you know the T there was a fisheye that was proposed to be put there just so you know when you see somebody around a corner do anything uh and then there's these dark gray cameras um off on the edge just by the road up up by the bus entrance those are um license plate readers so they'll they'll tie into our our Gate Systems and if we coded in a license plate open that saves a little bit of plus time and wait for deep all those things um moving on to forceful so the big concern I have of course gold is it's it's dropped off um 1 of the things that we're going to probably change a little bit is move a camera into a point directly at the bus drop off from 1 of the locations on the back side of the lower campus but other than that we we've got a good clear view of where our students are where they're playing um the entrances campuses they use your secure and then anywhere that kid might try to wander off make sure we get a good visibility and a good idea we can set um push alerts certain cameras that are on the edges of Campus did you know hey it's a kid right on the gate trying to get out and the river goes more of a challenge um they've got a lot of vertical aspects when it comes to their play areas um but we Face 1 to leverage for the central part of the campus um everywhere that bills will be playing and staff might be walking and and parents coming on campus that way that way we get a good idea of the core of the campus the idea that we're going to focus on that outer areas as we get to a phase 2 digital so these are the outcomes that I expect if we get a good security system in place um we'll have project and monitoring we'll know we can have alert set people with people are on campuses somebody speaks on a Sunday trying to do some tagging well know and we can have a report ready um it's going to be very clear high-risk um Imaging you can access on your phone and access on your laptop you could be in Hawaii and you can see what's going on on campus it's like it's called managed so um a lot that come with that is it's going to be a lot easier for me to manage on the back end tied to our systems um we're not going to have to host cameras we're not going to worry about when power is out hey what's going on with the reporting the cameras are going to have internal um memory for them so we lose power as we keep up with our Poe for switch is we'll still get the 40 scalable super easy to plug in its 1 cable hours of camera um the the big thing that I was concerned about with the the bandwidth and all those things after talking with the the people that came through and walk with me now you can start we we have such we've got a 10 gig Network which is pretty impressive for me with plan stuff for the upcoming the the final thing is when we were getting this going we got into an omni contract and and not allowed us to not have to go out to bid and it took the price in a a reasonable price it was a it was a great deal but it made it so I couldn't negotiate too much the the pricing set and they didn't want to cut down on their labor cost because that's their labor costs it's in the contract but they they opted to say if we could get this going moving quickly before the end of the quarter it would throw in a guest visitor check system which is Street really important to me so we're going to have a replacement for our positive process which that means when people come on campus the the visitor check will take their their driver's license it'll scan them and it'll tell us who's actually getting on our campus and then the cool thing that's a little interesting to me is if if we wanted to know what happened while that person was on campus we can do an after action and it will take that person facial recognition and it'll give you a report for everywhere they went on our campus wow so a lot of cool Tech a lot of a lot of stuff and then it's just peace of mind you know your campuses are going to be safe or if something's going on you know that people are going to be able to see what's going on that questions can I write cleared me to ask you some questions but I'm not going to ask you any questions that I cleared with him I'm going to ask you I'm going to Rapid Fire easy okay it's his first time presenting I am so happy he did a great job here here we go you already mentioned a lot of power over ethernet so that's good PTC or fixed they're all fixed um there are multi lenses so the big thing that I was trying to figure out don't know what he's talking about we're here there's multi cameras where it's a single camera that has multiple lenses so we leveraged the cost of running 1 Cable 1 POV ethernet cable for 4 cameras so um we opted for no PTZ at this point um with the idea that we want to just get the coverage as is and have a view of it if we needed a camera that we can move around and do those kind of things it's it's easily scalable they have those um we didn't offer any of those at this point we just wanted to stay out of coverage of our areas that are included okay under heat map you you had a couple of purple areas why did you choose those for those particular areas they're the main interest campuses so you get facial recognition of who's walking in along your campus and where they're playing on building so I wanted to make sure that if somebody were to enter our campus you get good AI facial recognition any indoor cameras yes only in offices um and or for multipurpose rooms so the off the main front office the camera will be pointed at the door and the proposed plan is to blur all the working area and to just have the front entrance of a camera and then in our multi-purpose rooms eating areas cafeterias those kind of things there will be a different signage requirements especially for the indoor cameras that is a great question um yes there will be some signage requirements we do you have signage I have a photo of 1 that says we're being monitored by SEL which is pretty interesting I didn't know that I don't think we are but yeah there will be some signage requirements that we're going to need to do outdoor and indoor all right yes yeah um cleaning the Sun so the good thing about marotta is there is a cover lens that goes over the top of them yep that is removable and replaceable if it gets damaged so if somebody comes and tags them you can just replace that cover lens it's it's less than 5 dollars so they're they're big on that and then there you be protected so do you have um like a stack of box of these lenses sort of scanning device you just throw 1 on there it was a conversation with Randy and I on potential uh piece of these cameras yep so it is something we can order it's not in the current proposed contract but we'll what I've been told from our neighbor best life is it was almost no maintenance at this point and I assume you're going to have to use a boom to get up to some of the places I will not be doing an install good I have done installs like that I this this is going to be a contract we have that certified to go up on a boom so part of this Phase 1 is not just the parts but it's labor and it's uh 8bm ABM they're they're the ones that did best legs installation they they've gone all around our area they'll be we're hopeful they'll be done before the end of the year and they'll provide the stuff on the ground require as well as in the boom yes as any impact on your guys there will be minimal impact on me other than being available for them in case something happens got it um you mentioned cloud I'm sure you put their security data retention period um standard is 30 days and there's also a standard 30-day on the camera you can be expanded um you can move some of the retention from 1 camera to another so uh it's going to be as needed I retention at the front end of our campus 90 days probably so we're going to move those things around and we're going to play with it how much storage on the PVR on the cloud it's unlimited oh it's unlimited it's Unlimited that's a big term but you pay for terabytes yeah you pay for what you 30 days it's a scalable yes uh your retention if you have some video that's you want to keep longer than those 30 days there's no cost until get into a you want to start retention on all your cameras way past their their time and there's the cops and stuff okay here's where that question comes in I promise I don't want you to have a situation where you're putting in somebody comes in your office and said I just gotten a little bump in my in the parking lot can you bring up the video what process will you have to ensure that requests that come to you are vetted and if you have proper administrative authority to look at video and pulse a clip up and maybe provide it to somebody so what's great about it is I'm going to leverage the easy ability of the system every administrator will have access to this and they will be able to do those things in the case of an issue I will be able to support there's a lot of things that I don't do until I'm asked and that will be 1 of them that being said I have really high faith in our administrator to be able to do those skills is there money in here for you Bernard this is not an easy system this is a complicated system you made it sound easy because you said Cloud how that but it's not it's a big system and so what I can say about ricotta is they simplified a lot of things um to the owner of ricotta was the original creator of Moroccan which is our Network a lot of the systems have been said uh they have online resources for extremely great and I'm hoping to leverage those people that are going to be using it and I will be doing deep Dives as much as I possibly can so and the cool thing with it being a uh live services in the cloud contract of Licensing any new feature we get so if a new feature for a camera comes out with AI since its licensing we get it and and 1 of the offers was if your camera are no longer supported as a buyback process or they'll buy back the cost of your camera and a reduced cost for anyone it's it's very future proof they probably did with these cameras as you put in a system and send your account it's out of date so this is the comments so I'm hoping it's my own little I just want to give you props this is a very complicated system it's very expensive system you it's an extensive infrastructure security project uh it's it's as high-tech as any sort of video surveillance system I've ever seen put into school district um and I I just want to give you extreme props for pulling all of this together and the rest of the people who helped you make this happen uh nice work it's going to really improve our security I look forward to it's going to be it's going to be great nice job thank you yes sir anything great job you sold me um just in terms of coverage when you talk about campus entry because this came up when we were approving the solar that is concerned about security and I was asking questions like you know can somebody throw a big rock over that fence and break 1 of those panels and that kind of thing is that area again going to be under surveillance which we're at at all campuses I mean I I'm pretty sure that from what you showed at we were going course go that would be covered but I'm not sure from yemeni so the solar project at vicinity um the lower campus 1 before you come to campus will be covered is that in that red circle down there there are looking at top of the screen Phase 2 is where the other coverage will get for um the field behind the pool yes okay um I do have photos of those if you guys are interested I was curious and then the other thing because I know we're kind of taking a lot of time so I'm sorry I didn't catch up I'm just trying not to talk too long myself the visiting bleachers in all the years that I've been coming out which means like starting from 1976 um I've seen so many fights and kids over there and I see that area is not under surveillance so visiting teams come in they sit in those visiting bleachers cross from the our you know where you do have coverage well that camera up there goes the field and we'll see all the way across it might be guy with the backpack and red shoes maybe not the AI facial recognition features will be within that part I've been told that wherever the red and double that and you still have pretty good visuals but much further than that the the purple cameras those ones can go quite much farther the go ahead sorry the phase phase phasing system of this we like I said we've chosen the areas where we're most concerned about students and safety and agencies and as we get to this phase we have feedback from those skills but yeah it had an incident this wasn't covered this is a location so we're going to leverage that we're not doing it at once and then not being able to fix those issues okay so what about if my I get that little text that says your son was absent 1 period and then he claims he was actually there could you that's not me okay yeah I was just gonna say that we're we're bringing this for ratification because Nathan alluded to we were able to get that 10 year license um by going ahead and getting the contract signed this goes hand in hand with the Arts and Music instructional block grant plan that we had that we brought to you this doesn't use all of those funds it uses a lot of it that's why this is going to be Phase 1 and you guys have probably heard that we also applied for a cops Grant which is a security Grant if we're able to get that if we find out what we got that we got that we also have the funding of the match that we would need or we will be able to adjust you a phase 2 and so what's great is like Nathan props to him he's like I said he's walked all of these campuses with the administrators gotten input um these this is the best plan we have for this but we also are going to be able to then get Phase 1 done and then reflect on it and see what what is working what's not are there other things that came up and so the phase 2 and possibly phase 3 we can change a little bit and I kind of as we go through this so this this is this is really exciting right here but just know that like there there's even more to come so that's kind of exciting and again thank you to Nathan and Randy because they really are the ones who did all the work to get this together to ratify the contract for the district outstanding we did a second all in favor wonderful job at the podium tonight all right action item 7g approval of license agreement with Pacific Gas and Electric or public receiving Behavior helps sorry about that so a little bit of context um so last year we've always had a school resource Deputy at least for the last several years and that was funded through County Sheriff's Office and it was provided cost us anything they provided through their use of tobacco use prevention education funds funds as well so they came to us about a little bit through the year and said hey we're going to have to because of rent requirements we're going to have to pull this thing up at 2 1 I keep by the way so every since then obviously we weren't happy we've working really hard to try and do something about that so we um took advantage of an opportunity to contract with Behavioral or hoping to do this to contract with Madera County Behavioral Health and also contract with the Madera County Sheriff's Department Department to take advantage of um some funds that the evader County Behavioral Health has that they would like to support our school with for the tune of um up to $300,000 a year for the next 3 years so nearly a million dollars um 1 of the requirements of this 3-way agreement is that we fund uh school resource deputies for those 3 years and so that's at a cost of about 180,000 I think about 180,000 so um we'd have a hundred thousand dollars a year that would go towards funding a school resource deputy and then we would have up to another 120,000 dollars to um really in a collaborative way figure out what are some other needs of our kids that that fall under the goals a behavioral health to support our kids in another way so this is really really exciting number 1 it's restoring the school resource Deputy to our district um and then number 2 is going above and beyond and supporting us in ways to um to help kids you know with other Behavioral Health matters and so this would be a district-wide officer that you know probably similar to before that would be stationed at the high school but also ready to respond to another schools as well there are some additional requirements as far as like education that they would provide for for students and staff and that kind of thing which are all good things and so um I'm just really happy that we were able to to get this done in such really a short amount of time and we would anticipate if the board approves us tonight we would get this back to behavioral health they would get this in front of the Board of Supervisors at their next meeting their meetings are weekly so they'll get it back in front of their Board of Supervisors the next week will be approved we'll start a hiring process to have a school resource deputy and someone in place within the first few weeks of school so awesome I would hope that our board would approve such a wonderful opportunity can I ask you are there any other school districts in Madera County is providing this resource to so um I didn't know that they were but I got a call from Golden Valley which is the air engine um the other day on the superintendent was asking me if we were pursuing this and I said absolutely and he said okay we are to himself looks like they have an opportunity I don't know outside of that I mean I don't know what level of funding they have but I would hope that um you know that you want you would be on their list as well as another school district lost their school resource Deputy so I I don't know the answer to that this is a great find we're grateful that um we're able to do this yeah well your place in that trail nice I will I will say this too there's a so this is a 3-year commitment they did share with us there's no promises here but they did share with us that they're pursuing another Grant they're pretty confident in and if they get that they would be willing to partner with us for another 2 years that would make this a 5 year agreement for the purposes of tonight just 3 years motion to approve I'll move to approve second all in favor now moving 7g approval of license agreement Pacific Gas and Electric nice nice agreements with Pacific Gas and Electric to for our Public Safety power shut off events this is essentially renewal contract we've been doing it for years already it's they provide a generators on our sites roughly from June to January for those power shut off events and in the case that they need our site to use that we get a thousand dollars a day like from PG so it's just essentially like I said renewing the contracts that we've had in place because it's been multiple so any questions no motion to approve second all in favor our next regular board meeting is Thursday September 2nd 07 it's my fault Thursday September 11th 11 uh yeah right totally all right very good and uh yeah thank you all for being here oh motion to adjourn I'm sorry can I get a can I get a certain second all in favor
